A global pandemic, disastrous climate events, erratic U.S. politics and … murder hornets? 2020 has been rough, and our inner voice doesn’t have a problem reminding us. Tell it to f*ck off with this new irreverent, laugh-out-loud guide, “Move on Motherf*cker,” by board-certified psychologist Jodie Eckleberry-Hunt. When we’re anxious, stressed, or fearful, the negative voice in our heads can be extremely powerful. It tells us we’re not smart or attractive enough. It berates us for our mistakes. And it keeps us feeling stuck in an endless loop of worry, shame, and hopelessness. But there is a way to shut it down. Blending evidence-based cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness, and profanity, this unexpected guide will show you how to respond to your negative inner voice with one very important phrase: Move on, mother*cker! You’ll learn to manage worry and anxiety, put a stop to unhelpful internal dialogue, and approach new situations with humor, levity, & perspective. So Drop In!
Perhaps my mom would tell you that she always knew I was “different.” I am a recovering people pleaser, control freak, worrier, and mother fucker. One thing I know is that life sometimes hurts, and we can’t run from that. We have a choice of whether or not deny it or go with it. I’ve learned that going with it is a better investment, but I need to laugh while I’m doing it. After more than 20 years of providing counseling services, I developed the idea of combining cognitive-behavioral techniques, mindfulness techniques, and profanity to help people get over themselves and what keeps them from achieving what they want. People tell me it works because laughter helps transcend pain. I am not going to try and dazzle you with a lot of BS about my credentials. I have a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology. I am board certified in Health Psychology. I have learned a shitload from talking with people with real problems, from having been married, having two kids and a dog, Bacon, aka, third child.
